Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Lonsdalea quercina quercina was originally described and validly published by Brady et al. 2012. Li et al. elevated the species (Hildebrand and Schroth 1967) Brady et al. 2012 emend. Li et al. 2017 to the rank of subspecies to form this name in 2017.

All other subspecies of Lonsdalea quercina have been elevated to the rank of species, giving preference back to Lonsdalea quercina over Lonsdalea quercina subsp. quercina.
