The species Mycobacterium longobardum was originally described and validly published by Tortoli et al. 2013. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Tortoli et al. 2013) Gupta et al. 2018 .
