The species Sphingobium czechense was originally described and validly published by Niharika et al. 2013. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Feng et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Sphingobium cupriresistens Li et al. 2013 emend. Feng et al. 2019
in 2019.
