Nomenclatural History

The species Dehalococcoides mccartyi was originally described and validly published by Löffler et al. 2013. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018.
According to Löffler et. al 2013 (10.1099/ijs.0.034926-0), the name Dehalococcoides mccartyi was previously described as ‘Dehalococcoides ethenogenes’ strain 195.
