The species Enterobacter massiliensis was originally described by Lagier et al. 2013. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 155 in 2014. In 2017, Alnajar and Gupta established Enterobacter massiliensis as the basonym of
Metakosakonia massiliensis (Lagier et al. 2014) Alnajar and Gupta 2017
