Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces muensis was originally described by Ningthoujam et al. 2013. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 156 in 2014. Wink et al. published an emended description of this species in 2017. Wink et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Li et al. 2015 in 2017.

Although Wink et al. asserts that "Streptomyces caelicus" is a later heterotypic synonym of Streptomyces muensis, it should be noted that "Streptomyces caelicus" is not Validly Published and has no standing in nomenclature. The emendation by Wink et al. re-defines the circumscription of Streptomyces muensis to include the "Streptomyces caelicus" strain as a non-type strain.
