Nomenclatural History
The species Niveispirillum irakense was originally described by Hördt et al. 2020. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 194 in 2020. Lin et al. formed this name in 2014 by placing the species Khammas et al. 1991 into the genus Lin et al. 2014.

This new combination was proposed earlier by Lin et al. 2014 and later supported by Hördt et al. 2020.
