The species Blautia obeum was originally described and validly published by Lawson and Finegold 2015. Lawson and Finegold formed this name in 2015 by placing the species Moore et al. 1976 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Liu et al. 2008 emend. Durand et al. 2017.
