Nomenclatural History

The genus Gimesia was originally proposed by Scheuner et al. 2014. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 162 in 2015. Kumar et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2020. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Wiegand et al. in 2020.
