The species Chlamydia abortus was originally described by Sachse et al. 2015. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 164 in 2015. Sachse et al. formed this name in 2015 by placing the species Everett et al. 1999 into the genus Jones et al. 1945 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Sachse et al. 2015.
