The species Mycobacterium franklinii was originally described and validly published by Nogueira et al. 2015. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Nogueira et al. 2015) Gupta et al. 2018 .
