The order Micromonosporales was originally proposed by Genilloud 2012. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 164 in 2015. Genilloud elevated the suborder Stackebrandt et al. 1997 emend. Zhi et al. 2009 to the rank of order to form this name in 2012.
