Nomenclatural History
The order Propionibacteriales was originally proposed by Patrick and McDowell 2012. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 164 in 2015. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this order in 2018. Patrick and McDowell elevated the suborder Rainey et al. 1997 emend. Zhi et al. 2009 to the rank of order to form this name in 2012.
