Nomenclatural History
The genus Phytobacter was originally proposed by Zhang et al. 2008. This name was validly published by Oren and Garrity 2017. Pillonetto et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2018. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Ma et al. in 2020. Ma et al. transferred the members of Alnajar and Gupta 2017 into this genus in 2020.
