The species Thalassotalea eurytherma was originally described and validly published by Hou et al. 2015. Wang et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Hou et al. formed this name in 2015 by placing the species Sun et al. 2014 into the genus Zhang et al. 2014 emend. Hou et al. 2015.
