The species Thermofilum uzonense was originally described by Toshchakov et al. 2015. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 169 in 2016. In 2021, Zayulina et al. established as the basonym of (Toshchakov et al. 2016) Zayulina et al. 2021 .
