The species Clostridium ventriculi was originally described and validly published by Lawson and Rainey 2016. Lawson and Rainey formed this name in 2016 by placing the species
Sarcina ventriculi Goodsir 1842 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Clostridium Prazmowski 1880 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Lawson and Rainey 2016.
This name is illegitimate because it contravenes Rule 51b (2) of the Code by not adopting the the earliest legitimate name for the taxon.
