Vandamme formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Achromobacter sediminum Zhang et al. 2014 into the genus Verticiella (Vandamme et al. 2015) Vandamme 2016. This name replaces the name Verticia sediminum (Zhang et al. 2014) Vandamme et al. 2015 .
