The species Salinivenus iranica was originally described by Munoz et al. 2016. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 183 in 2018. Munoz et al. formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Makhdoumi-Kakhki et al. 2012 into the genus Munoz et al. 2018.
