The species Salinivenus lutea was originally described by Munoz et al. 2016. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 183 in 2018. Munoz et al. formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Makhdoumi-Kakhki et al. 2012 into the genus Munoz et al. 2018.

This name could not be validated in 2016 because the genus could not be validated due to a change in the culture collection accession data involving the type species.
