Nomenclatural History

The species Clostridium polyendosporum was originally described by Rainey et al. 2009. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 172 in 2016. Rainey et al. formed this name in 2009 by placing the species
Anaerobacter polyendosporus Duda et al. 1996
into the genus Clostridium Prazmowski 1880 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Lawson and Rainey 2016.
Tindall 2016 questions the inclusion of this species in Clostridium.
