Nomenclatural History
The species Thalassiella azotivora was originally described by Lee et al. 2016. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 173 in 2017.

As the authors derived the name from N.L. n azotum nitrogen, the list editors have corrected azotovora to azotivora (a.zo.ti.vo’ra. …).
