Nomenclatural History
|
The species Bacterium agile was originally described by Jensen 1898. Jensen elevated the subspecies
Bacillus denitrificans agilis Ampola and Garino 1896
to the rank of species to form this name in 1898. In 1923, Bergey et al. established Bacterium agile as the basonym of
Achromobacter agilis corrig. (ex Bergey et al. 1923) Vandamme et al. 2016
.
Not "Bacterium agile" (Schou and Flügge) Lehmann and Neumann 1901 (a synonym of "Bacillus pneumonicus agilis" Schou 1885 as described by Flügge 1890 cf. Migula 1900).
