The species Arcobacter lekithochrous was originally described and validly published by Diéguez et al. 2017. Diéguez et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Diéguez et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Tanaka et al. 2017 in 2018. In 2018, Pérez-Cataluña et al. established as the basonym of (Diéguez et al. 2017) Pérez-Cataluña et al. 2019 .
