The species Aequorivita soesokkakensis was originally described by Hahnke et al. 2016. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 175 in 2017. Hahnke et al. formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Park et al. 2014 into the genus Bowman and Nichols 2002 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016.
