The species Burkholderia novacaledonica was originally described by Guentas et al. 2019. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 195 in 2020. In 2021, Lozano et al. established as the basonym of (Guentas et al. 2020) Lozano et al. 2021 emend. Lozano et al. 2021 .
