The species Saliniramus fredricksonii was originally described by Cole et al. 2018. This name was validly published by Cole et al. 2018. This name replaces the name Cole et al. 2018 .

Originally proposed as Salinivirga fredricksonii but the genus name was changed to Saliniramus in order to avoid creating a later homonym.
