The genus Ereboglobus was originally proposed by Tegtmeier et al. 2018. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 182 in 2018.
The etymology must be corrected as follows: Gr. masc. n. erebos, the darkness; L. masc. n. globus, the globe; N.L. masc. n. Ereboglobus globular
bacterium from the darkness).
