The species Lactobacillus micheneri was originally described and validly published by McFrederick et al. 2018. Li et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 2020, Zheng et al. established as the basonym of (McFrederick et al. 2018) Zheng et al. 2020 . Li et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Chiou et al. 2018 in 2020.
