The species Lactobacillus micheneri was originally described and validly published by McFrederick et al. 2018. Li et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 2020, Zheng et al. established Lactobacillus micheneri as the basonym of
Apilactobacillus micheneri (McFrederick et al. 2018) Zheng et al. 2020
. Li et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Lactobacillus kosoi Chiou et al. 2018
in 2020.
