The species Candidatus intracellularis was originally described by Gebhart et al. 1993. McOrist et al. replaced this illegitimate name with
Lawsonia intracellularis (Gebhart et al. 1993) McOrist et al. 1995
in 1995.
This Candidatus name is illegitimate because it lacks a generic epithet.
