The species Thioglobus singularis was originally described by Marshall and Morris 2013. In 2021, van Vliet et al. established Thioglobus singularis as the basonym of
Pseudothioglobus singularis (Marshall and Morris 2013) van Vliet et al. 2021
.
This taxon cannot be Candidatus because the strain it is based on was based on a pure culture.
