Nomenclatural History
The species Actinoplanes ferrugineus was originally described by Nouioui et al. 2018. Nouioui et al. formed this name in 2018 by placing the species Ara et al. 2008 into the genus Couch 1950 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018.

This name is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of Actinoplanes ferrugineus Palleroni 1979 (Approved Lists 1980).
