The species Ruminiclostridium methylpentosum was originally described by Yutin and Galperin 2013. Yutin and Galperin formed this name in 2013 by placing the species
Clostridium methylpentosum Himelbloom and Canale-Parola 1989
into the genus Ruminiclostridium Yutin and Galperin 2013 non Ruminiclostridium Zhang et al. 2018.
Yutin and Galperin 2013 did not formally propose this new combination.
