Proper Form
| Acetothermia Takami et al. 2012 |
Nomenclatural History
|
The phylum Acetothermia was originally proposed by Takami et al. 2012. Hao et al. replaced this illegitimate name with
Bipolaricaulota Hao et al. 2018
in 2018.
This phylum (formerly OP1) takes its name from the type genus “Candidatus Acetothermus”. However, Acetothermus was already the name of a valid genus within the phylum Bacteroidetes, making its reuse illegitimate.
