Nomenclatural History
The genus Peribacillus was originally proposed and validly published by Patel and Gupta 2020.

The present work indicates that the following Bacillus species, viz. ‘Bacillus cihuensis’, ‘Bacillus massiliglaciei’, ‘Bacillus massilioanorexius’, ‘Bacillus massiliogorillae’ and ‘Bacillus testis’ are also part of the genus Peribacillus. However, as these names are only effectively but not validly published and type strains for these species were not available in two different culture collections, new name combinations for them were not proposed.
