The species Alkalihalobacillus hemicellulosilyticus was originally described by Patel and Gupta 2020. This name was validly published by Oren and Garrity 2020. Upon validation, this name was corrected from (sic) to . Patel and Gupta formed this name in 2020 by placing the species Nogi et al. 2005 into the genus Patel and Gupta 2020 emend. Joshi et al. 2021. In 2021, Joshi et al. established as the basonym of (Nogi et al. 2005) Joshi et al. 2022 .
