Nomenclatural History
The species Muricauda koreensis was originally described by García-López et al. 2019. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 193 in 2020. García-López et al. formed this name in 2019 by placing the species Choi et al. 2018 into the genus Bruns et al. 2001 emend. Liang et al. 2021.

A replacement epithet was chosen to avoid creating a homonym to Muricauda aquimarina Yoon et al. 2005.
