Nomenclatural History
The species Muricauda pacifica was originally described by García-López et al. 2019. García-López et al. formed this name in 2019 by placing the species Gao et al. 2015 into the genus Bruns et al. 2001 emend. Liang et al. 2021.

This name is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of Muricauda pacifica Zhang et al. 2015 emend. García-López et al. 2019.
