Nomenclatural History
The species Desulfovermiculus utahensis was originally described by Galushko and Kuever 2015. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 197 in 2021. Galushko and Kuever formed this name in 2019 by placing the species Jakobsen et al. 2006 into the genus Belyakova et al. 2007 emend. Galushko and Kuever 2019.

Galushko and Kuever 2019 incorrectly cited the basonym as 'utahensis.
