The species Caminibacter pacificus was originally described by Shiotani et al. 2020. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 199 in 2021. Shiotani et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species
Cetia pacifica Grosche et al. 2015
into the genus Caminibacter Alain et al. 2002.
