Nomenclatural History
The species Salipiger abyssi was originally described by Du et al. 2021. Du et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species Lin et al. 2014 into the genus Martínez-Cánovas et al. 2004 emend. Liang et al. 2021.

This new combination has been proposed by Du et al. 2021 and later by Liang et al. 2021, but cannot become Validly Published until the basonym becomes Validly Published.
