This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 203 in 2022. de la Haba et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species Haloterrigena limicola Cui et al. 2006 into the genus Natrinema McGenity et al. 1998 emend. de la Haba et al. 2021.
