The species Stutzerimonas chloritidismutans was originally described by Lalucat et al. 2022. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 204 in 2022. Gomila et al. published an emended description of this species in 2022. Lalucat et al. formed this name in 2022 by placing the species Wolterink et al. 2002 into the genus Lalucat et al. 2022.
