Nomenclatural History
The species Rhodococcus fascians was originally described by Goodfellow 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 16 in 1984. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Goodfellow formed this name in 1984 by placing the species (Tilford 1936) Dowson 1942 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Zopf 1891 (Approved Lists 1980). Klatte et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (ex Söhngen 1913) Nesterenko et al. 1982 in 1994.
