Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces niger was originally described by Goodfellow et al. 1986. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 22 in 1986. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Goodfellow et al. formed this name in 1986 by placing the species Thirumalachar 1955 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Waksman and Henrici 1943 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Idris et al. 2017.
