The species Streptomyces olivoverticillatus was originally described by Witt and Stackebrandt 1990. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 38 in 1991. Hatano et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces viridiflavus corrig. Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium viridoflavum (ex Waksman and Taber 1953) Locci and Schofield 1989
in 2003. established Streptomyces olivoverticillatus as a later homotypic synonym of
Streptoverticillium olivoverticillatum (Shinobu 1956) Baldacci et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2017.
