Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces violaceus was originally described by Waksman 1953. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Lanoot et al. published an emended description of this species in 2002. Lanoot et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Artamonova and Krasil'nikov 1960) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2002.
