Nomenclatural History

This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Streptoverticillium viridoflavum was originally described by Waksman and Taber 1953. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Locci and Schofield. established Streptoverticillium viridoflavum as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Streptomyces viridiflavus corrig. Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium viridoflavum (ex Waksman and Taber 1953) Locci and Schofield 1989
in 2017.
