Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Streptosporangium viridogriseum viridogriseum was originally described by Okuda et al. 1966. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1980, Skerman et al. reduced Okuda et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies. Stackebrandt et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Okuda et al. 1966) Stackebrandt et al. 1994 in 1994.
