Nomenclatural History
The species Herbidospora cretacea was originally described and validly published by Kudo et al. 1993. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Boondaenger et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Petrolini et al. 1993 emend. Boondaenger et al. 2011 in 2011. Ara et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Li et al. 2009 in 2012.
